I feel like a broken record, every time one of his collections come out. They're awesome. I never followed any other comic strip since Watterson and Calvin and Hobbes. The interplay between the dog and the baby is just priceless. Anyone who has had either one will relate to this, since some of the panels you'd swear he stole out of your own life, and simply added speech and thought bubbles. Many of them I look at and wonder if that's what my dog could have been actually thinking in that situation.There is a consistency here from day to day that most other strip artists lack. And don't even get me started on some of the artwork he does in the Sunday strips. Absolutely amazing talent totally unseen in any other strip.
Honestly, Brian Anderson just gets better and better. I have all the volumes so far and laugh every time I read them. "Dog Eat Doug" is hilarious in a slightly warped, geeky sci-fi/fantasy way that appeals to me. Baby Doug and dog Sophie are endearing troublemakers, in the way that only babies and puppies can be. And the cats! If cats could talk. I'm relatively sure they would sound like these two. This comic gets compared to "Calvin and Hobbes" quite often but it is unique. There is a random typo or two that I long to fix but they can generally be overlooked because you're laughing too hard.
Doug and Sophie are riding along on the Batcycle as the Dynamic Duo, when suddenly they're attacked by giant Teletubbies!Doug and Sophie are witness to the modernization of Narnia, in a somber moment that C.S. I love the Dog eats Doug books. It's like Mr. Anderson can look into the minds of the baby and all the animals and know what they're thinking. I really enjoy these books and look forward to reading many more adventures with all the wonderful characters he's written about.
I love these. Comics I always see my dog in Sophie's antics. And the pop culture references constantly make me feel out. And yes cats are evil geniuses. Like peanuts the best part is the truth that hides in every panel and shows us how to laugh at life.
The latest collection of Brian Anderson's fantastic newspaper comic strip, Dog Eat Doug. More of the great artwork, pop culture references, and surreal humor that make DeD one of THE best strips being produced today, hands down. Funny without being saccharine. Suitable for everyone of all ages.
I love this strip. It has the perfect blend of warmth and surreal events and I am always on the lookout for a new collection. Highly recommended.
Best friends to a point. Dog takes advantage of doug but also helps him as long as it's to his benefit. Love the scheming cats. I would love to see more of them.
